Thanks to their flat and wide shape, hira-kyusu teapots are particularly suitable for premium quality teas. The larger space for opening the leaves emphasises the sweetness and delicacy of the tea.
The teapot has a finish called "yōhen" in Japan - meaning "transformed by flame". When the teapot is fired, the temperature fluctuates in the kiln, resulting in colour changes on the surface. Each piece is unique.
